Dylan McBurney, a 25-year-old photographer,is a dynamic and versatile visual artist specializing in automotive, travel, adventure, commercial, and landscape photography. With a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Queen's University Belfast, he initially pursued a career as an engineer at Intel and now works full-time at the startup Movetru.
Dylan's passion for photography was sparked during a study trip to China in 2019. Armed with a newly purchased camera, he captured countless moments throughout the journey. Upon returning to Ireland, he joined his university’s photography club, participating in photowalks and excursions that deepened his love for the craft.
Determined to refine his skills, Dylan immersed himself in the technical aspects of photography—devouring YouTube tutorials, experimenting with various techniques, and developing a keen eye for composition. His dedication paid off quickly, leading to the development of a distinct style that attracted commercial clients such as Peugeot, Porsche, travel agencies, and luxury hotel chains. These collaborations have taken him across breathtaking destinations, from the rugged landscapes of Iceland and Norway to the tropical beauty of Bali.
Balancing a demanding engineering career with photography requires meticulous time management. Dylan schedules most client shoots on weekends, dedicating his spare time to the intricate process of selecting and editing images.
An automotive enthusiast at heart, he relishes working with renowned car brands while also finding deep fulfillment in capturing moody, atmospheric landscapes.
Refusing to be confined to a single niche, Dylan embraces the full spectrum of photographic opportunities, continuously pushing the boundaries of his creative expression.
DYLAN's top 3 SIGMA LENSES
CONTEMPORARY
16mm F1.4 DC DN
“One of the reasons I love this focal length is that it creates a cinematic wide angled look that is reminiscent of old movies. Before the 28mm focal length got popular, the 24mm focal length was the go to wide angle for film making.”
CONTEMPORARY
100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN
“The 50mm focal length is well known for both street photography and portraiture and is one of the first focal lengths I started out with on my photographic journey. So obviously I absolutely LOVE using a 50mm.”
ART
24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II
“Oh where to start with the 85mm. Some of my favorite photographers of the past used long focal lengths like 75mm, 90mm and even 135mm for street photography so the 85mm is a pure gem. Especially on the streets. The separation it creates between your subject and background is absolutely stellar!”
